DAYS OF HISTORICAL RECREATION

It is a Day of Historical Recreation of the ancient Roman world that the City Council of Ribera del Fresno promotes with the aim of recovering our historical past and putting in value the archaeological site the Roman Oppidum of Hornachuelos as a hallmark of this member town in the Vía de la Plata included by the Badajoz County Council in its program of festivals with history. It is a playful-festive day whose objective in the coexistence and enjoyment of riversiders and visitors, but in turn has a marked cultural character in that it involves the recovery, recognition and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage and the Roman past of the location. This recreation day aims to historically evoke the way of life and customs of our Celtiberian and Roman predecessors through the recreation of sequences of civil and military life, and is inspired by the ancient festivals that celebrated the beginning of spring . Every year all the riversiders are encouraged to participate actively in this day through the holding of Roman and Celtiberian clothing and clothing workshops.
